AnglicareSA is partnering with St Peter’s Cathedral in an innovative community solar panel project, which will reduce carbon emissions and help low-income households to access green power.
Through the generosity of matching donors your tax-deductible donation will be amplified, e.g. a $500 donation will result in a $2,000 investment into this project.
Our aim is to raise $5,000 so that we can invest a total of $20,000 into this project.
Caring for Creation & Each Other
In 2022, the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide committed to a new vision for the life of the church. One of the vision’s focus areas is ‘Caring for Creation and Each Other’. AnglicareSA’s Community Solar Project does both. At the same time as reducing carbon emissions, we can also help low-income households to access low-cost green power.
Your donations will help us to grow this scheme, so that we can both care for the earth God gave us and care for people made in God’s image.
Innovative solar panel project with AnglicareSA and 369 Labs
AnglicareSA has partnered with 369 Labs on an environmentally-focused and innovative solar panel project. Through this collaboration, AnglicareSA funds the cost of rooftop solar panel systems, providing tenants with access to significantly reduced energy tariff rates when the system is generating energy.
The Ember Pulse, integrated within the tenant’s home, provides live monitoring of the tenant’s power usage and availability of solar power. A flashing green light signifies a reduced tariff rate, while red indicates the standard tariff rate. Tenants have no upfront or ongoing costs and currently pay only $0.25 per kWh during solar generation periods.

Excess solar energy generated from rooftop solar installations is either sold back to the grid or channelled through to other tenants whose properties are unsuitable for solar panels. These other “Community Solar” tenants can thereby access reduced energy rates without the installation of a solar system on their own roof.
On average, tenants save between $250 and $280 on their annual electricity bills through this initiative, which has garnered recognition across the industry, including the 2023 Future of Ageing Awards and the 2023 AHI Brighter Future Awards.
