Join us as dawn breaks on International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day in memory of a loved one, to support others bereaved by suicide, and for suicide prevention.
The Walk Through the Darkness and Into the Light started in 2009 to mark International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day. This global day is when survivors of suicide loss come together to find connection, understanding, hope, and healing through shared experience.
In Australia, about nine people a day end their own lives. Suicide is the leading cause of premature death, and the main cause of death among people aged 15 to 44. We lose more people to suicide than die on our roads each year.
Join us for a 5:00am start at the West Beach or Tennyson Beach locations below and walk in solidarity with those touched by suicide. You can join for part or all of the journey or meet us at its conclusion from 6:30am at Henley Square for a Remembrance Ceremony and light breakfast.
