How do our assessments work?

The first step in the assessment journey is understanding more about your child, their developmental history, and behavioural patterns. A member of our diagnostic team will provide you, and your child’s education setting, with a questionnaire to help gather this information.

Once we have this background information, we will set up a time for our diagnostic team to meet with you and your child for a face-to-face assessment.

These assessments are comprised of two essential components:

• The first component is an assessment through interactive play, where we will observe and evaluate your child’s behaviours and responses.
• The second component is through conversations with you and your child’s other caregivers to gain deeper insights into your child’s developmental journey and family dynamics.

Following the assessment, our diagnostic clinicians will evaluate the results and meet with you to discuss whether your child meets the criteria for a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
