A gold standard for quality service in her home
28 March 2025
For Glen-Marguerite, the home care workers who visit her home each week are more than just cleaners or drivers, they are a highlight of her day that leaves her beaming with happiness.
Her glowing praise of our skilled and culturally diverse workforce was recently emphasised with AnglicareSA’s Home Care Services recognised by the Reader’s Digest, taking home a coveted Gold in the 2025 Quality Service Award survey.
With mobility and sight issues, Glen-Marguerite accesses Home Care Services to assist with cleaning as well as transportation to appointments or shopping, helping her maintain her independence in her own home.
“They are all just so helpful and friendly,” Glen-Marguerite said. “Everyone from the coordinators, the people who ring me to check in, to the workers who provide such an amazing service.
“It’s something I never take for granted.”
It’s more than just the provision of a service for the avid reader and artist, it’s a social connection and interaction with people who she finds fascinating and revels in their conversation.
“It’s such a diverse workforce with people from all over Australia and the world and everyone does such a fantastic job.
“But for me, I really like meeting these people from other countries and hearing their stories. I’d rather hear about them than them worrying about my dodgy ankles.
“I have Home Care workers from countries like Nepal and China, and there’s a young Irish girl who gives me such a laugh.
“This sounds really corny and sentimental, but this service, no matter whether you’re older or have a disability, or whatever problems you have, I get made happy with this service, the company, the conversation, just a positive feeling.”
Quality key driver of Home Care services
Head of Community Aged Care, Sam Laubsch, said the key driver of AnglicareSA’s Home Care Services was quality.
“Quality is the enabler of people being able to remain living in their own homes and connected to their communities,” she says.
“AnglicareSA does this through providing expert nursing, allied health and care support when there is complex health or social needs as well as for people wanting to remain as healthy, fit and independent as possible. We work with the person to help maintain their home and ensure it is safe and a place they are proud to live in.”
As one of South Australia’s quality service providers, AnglicareSA offers a broad range of in-home care and allied health services, as well as six residential aged-care homes and retirement living properties across Adelaide, and close to 300 Home Care employees, who support in excess of 2200 people to remain living at home.
Executive General Manager of Aged Care Services, Frank Weits, said the Quality Service Award was recognition of AnglicareSA’s commitment to continually evolve and develop its care and services.
“We have listened to our customer feedback and kept current on what is happening in our sector, ensuring what we provide is evidence-based, quality-focused, and enabling people to live at home, stay connected to their communities and remain as engaged as possible in the activities they choose,” Frank said.
“Our staff take forward a commitment to quality in all that they do, and we hear this feedback continually from our customers.
“Quality workers ensure that we provide a quality service.”
The Quality Service Award survey is commissioned by Reader’s Digest and is now in its 11th year in Australia. The survey is conducted by Catalyst Research, an independent market research company, and involved surveying customers and companies, rating each organisation across the five key pillars of customer service: Personalisation, Understanding, Simplicity, Satisfaction, and Consistency.
The highest-rated company of each category, including AnglicareSA, was awarded the status of Gold Winner.
