We’re excited to announce that Australia’s largest telecommunications company, Telstra has donated 2,500 pre-paid phone cards to our emergency services programs.
Technology has huge potential to empower, but access to devices like mobile phones is far from universal. The digital divide is real and while Australia has high rates of mobile phone ownership, low-income groups routinely run out of credit sooner than expected and are prone to “bill shock”.
The phone cards will be distributed to those who most need them through our emergency assistance programs to actively help disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our communities.
AnglicareSA continues to develop new ways to address housing and accommodation needs in the Adelaide city area, helping people transition away from homelessness. And we stand proudly beside these people, offering compassion and assistance at a time when many feel they have nowhere else to turn. But we don’t do this alone. Through the generosity of partners like Telstra we are able to extend the reach of our programs and services even further
The phone cards will be used via our emergency assistance, suicide prevention, and Aboriginal services.
