When someone you love takes their own life, there’s no easy way forward. It can cause a ripple effect across relatives, workmates and community groups. You may experience intense feelings of grief, questioning, shame, powerlessness, self-doubt and guilt. You may be left feeling very isolated.
We’re here to help you through your journey. Our Living Beyond Suicide is a free program providing practical and emotional support to people who have been affected by suicide.
We support people of all ages across metropolitan Adelaide.
How we can help
Living Beyond Suicide is a specialist outreach program available to individuals and families living in metropolitan Adelaide. For the help you need, when you need it – we come to you. Our dedicated support workers offer home visits and telephone support. We are available 10am to 10pm, 7 days a week.
Our Living Beyond Suicide support worker will:
- guide you through the array of systems that enters your life in this distressing time;
- offer immediate practical and sensitive support;
- and help you with referrals to other agencies where needed.
Whether you lost your friend or family member to suicide this year, last year or 20 years ago, we’re here for you. We understand the importance of providing you, your family and friends with the opportunity to talk with someone about your loss.
We can provide one-on-one sessions or appointments with couples and families who are going through the grieving process together.
How we can support your community
Our Living Beyond Suicide team runs training and information for community groups, workplaces and other professionals.
Each year in November, we host the annual walk of remembrance ‘Walk Through the Darkness’ along the Adelaide beaches, welcoming those impacted by suicide to join in commemoration and celebration of loved ones they have lost.
