We understand the power of support and connection following a suicide attempt, and believe every individual should have the opportunity to feel heard and supported.

Our Suicide Prevention Service is a free three-month intensive program providing specialised support to individuals who have had a recent suicide attempt.

We support people of all ages across metropolitan Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills.

How we can help

Whether you live in the city or more remotely in the Hills, our Suicide Prevention Service is a specialist outreach program. For the help you need, when you need it – we come to you. We will work with you wherever you feel most comfortable – at home, at an AnglicareSA site, or in a community setting.

Over a period of three months, an AnglicareSA support worker will provide regular face-to-face support sessions. These sessions will involve safety planning and assist with strategies to manage stressful times and events. We will also work with you to identify and connect with community and social groups that can help assist with the unique needs of each individual and family.

Month 1: Listening, understanding and safety planning

During the first month we will visit you each week to ensure you feel supported in what can be a very challenging time. In each session, your dedicated support worker will listen to understand your experience and circumstances, support you to identify your goals, and collaboratively design a safety plan incorporating our supports.

Month 2: Gaining confidence, empowerment

During our second month with you, we will maintain regular appointments while cementing more ways to empower you. This way you can start gaining as much confidence as possible to get back into doing the things you love, or get involved in new things that you want and need.

Month 3: Securing supports, community connections

As you continue to reignite your hope and create new goals for your future, during our third month with you, we aim to ensure you have the right supports in place and established connections with your community. This way, you will feel confident to continue building on the progress you have made over the past three months.
