To access social housing, you need to:
- be an Australian resident
- be at least 16 years old
- not own any residential property
- meet the income and asset limits.
You must also confirm that you:
- cannot stay where you are currently living
- are unable to maintain any other form of housing, for example, a private rental.
Special circumstances may mean you are still eligible for housing assistance even if you do not meet the above criteria.
