At AnglicareSA, we are dedicated to transforming lives through our comprehensive autism diagnostic services for children. As a leading provider of therapeutic supports for children and young people living with disability, we want to play a vital role in the early identification of autism to ensure access to appropriate supports.
How do our assessments work?
Upon receiving a written referral, our expert diagnostic team initiates the assessment journey by providing families and education settings with questionnaires to gather information about the child’s developmental history and behavioural patterns across various settings.
Subsequently, children and their parents and caregivers participate in a face-to-face assessment, which comprises of two essential components:
- Through interactive play-based sessions and use of standardised assessments, we observe and evaluate the child’s behaviours and responses.
- We facilitate thorough conversations with parents and caregivers to gain deeper insights into the child’s developmental journey and family dynamics.
Using information gathered, along with assessment results and observations, we evaluate against the criteria outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – Fifth Edition (DSM-V) to determine whether the child meets the criteria for a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Additional information
A formal diagnosis of autism requires evaluation by two accredited clinicians, who may be a paediatrician, psychologist, psychiatrist, or speech pathologist. At AnglicareSA, our diagnostic team conducts assessments as follows:
- Single clinician assessment: Completed by a speech pathologist.
- Dual clinician assessment: Completed by a speech pathologist and a psychologist.

Single autism assessment: $1,490.00
Dual autism assessment: $2,690.00
