AnglicareSA’s Thread Together program is driving social and environmental change. We provide those in need with brand new clothes that would otherwise end up in landfill.
The program has a positive impact on many people’s lives, including those experiencing/at risk of homelessness; Aboriginal communities; refugees; survivors of domestic violence, and the long-term unemployed.
How your donation can make a real difference
Unlike most Year 12 students, Georgia’s worries were not about finding the perfect formal dress. Her family were simply surviving, unable to afford even the bare essentials such as food and rent.
Getting dressed up for a formal is a special memory for so many, but sadly this was something Georgia knew was completely out of reach. She accepted her family’s situation and didn’t even dare to dream about the luxury until… she came across the magic of Thread Together!
In learning of Georgia’s upcoming formal, our Thread Together team quickly organised three dresses in Georgia’s size and ‘pink’ formal theme for her to try. In the blink of an eye, Georgia had a stunning designer dress. But more importantly, she walked away with a sense of dignity and self-confidence – something she hadn’t felt in a long time.
From making someone feel safe and warm to building confidence for a special event, since 2018 AnglicareSA’s Thread Together program has helped more than 10,000 South Australians, like Georgia, in need of new clothes.
Thanks to more than 20 fashion partners from across Australia, Thread Together has access to plenty of brand new designer clothes.
Donate today and help this vital volunteer-run service change lives for the better.
