NDIS & AnglicareSA
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has brought changes to the way disability services in Australia are funded. Previously the government provided funding to providers like AnglicareSA, but this is now changing so that funding will be provided directly to individuals and their parents/carers to purchase supports.
Here are 10 things you need to know about NDIS.
What’s changing at AnglicareSA?
AnglicareSA is committed to being a quality provider of children’s disability services in South Australia including, autism childcare, respite, day activities, school holiday programs and individualised therapeutic and social support services. Our focus on being the best local provider of these services also means we are looking to expand our services – stay tuned for updates on our new services.
In addition as the NDIS expands to include older age groups, AnglicareSA’s services for 14-65yr olds will grow and change with it, & we will support families & individuals to transition to NDIS.
Community Day Activities & Overnight Accommodation Service at Montrose House (Respite)
Our Community Day Activities and Overnight Accommodation at Montrose House will continue to provide quality services for you and your child. These services will be available through government funding until your child accesses their NDIS package. When this happens, you will need to ‘purchase’ the respite services using your NDIS funding package.
When you meet with the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) you can discuss the level of respite and other support needed to achieve your child’s goals. AnglicareSA’s NDIS Customer Advocate can help you prepare for this meeting and support you through the changes.
Individualised Services for Children and Young People
Our individualised services support children and young people through tailored services developed and delivered in the place that best meets individuals needs. These flexible services support children, young people, and their families in achieving their goals by taking into account each individual’s own strengths, needs and interests.
Our services include in home and community based support, and have a focus on communication, social skills, and activities of daily living. Some of the areas we can support you to develop include daily routines, school transitioning, and to access community activities. Ask to meet with our Service Liaison Officer to discuss the support we can provide to fit you.
Outreach Autism Therapy Services
We are also excited to now be offering Individualised Occupational Therapy and Individualised Speech Therapy for children 0-8 years with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. These services can be purchased using your NDIS package funding and our therapists can come to your home, child’s school or child care or a place that suits you and your child’s needs. Please contact our Service Liaison Officer to book these services.
Daphne Street Autism Specific Early Learning and Care Centre (ASELCC)
The Daphne Street Child Care Centre in Prospect will continue to provide autism specific long day care services for children up to 6 years of age until January 2019. At this time the service may change to be provided to your child through the NDIS.
If this occurs, services can only be provided to your child if you choose to purchase them through your NDIS package. You may require a meeting with NDIA to renegotiate ASELCC services into your NDIS package. AnglicareSA can help you prepare for this meeting and support you through the changes. AnglicareSA will get in touch with you when these changes start to occur but in the meantime you may like to get in touch with your NDIA planner to look at how the NDIS can support your child to reach their full potential.
