AnglicareSA Housing to manage 479 HousingSA properties in Adelaide’s north

Leading, not-for-profit community housing provider, AnglicareSA Housing will soon have responsibility for the management of 479 Housing SA properties in Elizabeth Grove and Elizabeth Vale as part of a three-year arrangement under the South Australian Government’s Better Places Stronger Communities (BPSC) program.

Accredited to provide quality, large scale community housing, AnglicareSA Housing already provides community housing to hundreds of disadvantaged South Australians on lower incomes. Bringing these additional properties under our management will enable us provide further support in the north of Adelaide where we already provide a large number of services.

“We’re pleased to welcome our new tenants to the AnglicareSA community” says AnglicareSA CEO Peter Sandeman. “What’s important about community housing is security in tenancy and creating communities where individuals are valued and support each other. We’re well placed to provide both.”

AnglicareSA will open a dedicated Housing Service Centre in Elizabeth Grove Shopping Centre, 60 Fairfield Road, Elizabeth Grove. Here, tenants will be able to get further information about AnglicareSA Housing, make an appointment to speak with someone about a specific housing issue, and get information about broader AnglicareSA services.

“Our local Housing Service Centre will mean we’re accessible and responsive. We’re committed to providing excellent customer service, active and timely support; quickly addressing the backlog of maintenance issues and enhancing their everyday experience as tenants.”

Importantly, AnglicareSA Housing tenants will not experience an increase in their out of pocket rental expenses. Once the transfer is complete, tenants may become eligible for Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA).  AnglicareSA will invest all funds sourced from the CRA into the properties and tenant support.

At the end of the three-year trial period, there may be opportunity for AnglicareSA to be granted the option to manage the leases for a further 20 years.
